NBR/PVC

NBR/PVC is a polymer blend that combines nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to achieve a balanced set of physical and chemical properties that neither material can provide alone.

NBR is known for its excellent resistance to oils, fuels, and many chemicals, while PVC offers strong resistance to ozone, sunlight, heat, and weathering. When blended, they produce a durable, weather-resistant material that retains good flexibility even at low temperatures.

NBR/PVC also exhibits better flame resistance than NBR alone and features low gas permeability, making it suitable for applications requiring fluid and gas leakage prevention.

The blend’s formulation can be custom-compounded to enhance specific properties such as higher flame retardancy, abrasion resistance, or elasticity. This versatility makes NBR/PVC suitable for a wide range of applications, including the automotive industry (seals, gaskets, fuel hoses), cable industry (oil- and flame-resistant cable sheathing), construction sector (waterproof and chemical-resistant seals), and various outdoor equipment exposed to harsh environments.

Key Properties

  • Excellent oil and fuel resistance from the NBR component

  • Superior ozone, sunlight, and weather resistance from the PVC component

  • Good chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, and certain organic solvents

  • Better flame resistance compared to NBR alone

  • Good flexibility even at low temperatures

  • High abrasion and wear resistance for applications involving friction

  • Low gas permeability to prevent fluid and gas leakage

  • Customizable formulation to achieve specific property requirements

Applications

  • Automotive: Seals, gaskets, fuel hoses, and other oil/fuel contact components

  • Cable Industry: Oil- and flame-resistant cable sheathing

  • Construction: Waterproof and chemical-resistant seals and gaskets

  • Outdoor Equipment: Components exposed to sunlight and severe weather

  • Sealing Applications: For fluids and gases requiring high leakage resistance

  • General Industrial Use: Air hoses, rubber tubing, and abrasion-resistant parts
